2000 PSD stalling

My neighbor has an F-350 standard transmission that has a problem with stalling. The engine starts fine in the cold weather, but whenever the throttle is touched, it will stall out, sometimes quitting. Even if it gets going down the road, within a short distance it will stall and often quit.

I've used FTE for my vehicles, but I'm unfamiliar with the PSD. I've read threads on the CMP sensor, and the symptoms are just different enough that it makes me unsure. Are there any suggestions as to the direction I should go with this? Any wiring diagrams, or links to engine info would be helpful also as I'm still learning the PSD.

Thanks

Does the CEL come on? If so check the codes. A CPS will set a code.

Thanks for the responses...I will have to inquire about the fuel filter. I have an OBDII "Code Reader" (not a scan tool) so I'll check codes. I know it doesn't have a CEL on now, but maybe I can find something in the history. Is the CPS checkable with a DMM? Are there wiring diagrams for the 7.3L out there? And where is the CPS mounted?

Thanks FTE for all your help...I've suggested to my neighbor to get registered. This is a great resource. Please keep the replies coming...I will update the status on the problem as I'm able to.

Hey all, Finally got a resolution on the stalling. Turns out to be a dual problem. CPS was faulted all right, after replacement it ran a lot better. But the stalling after a short distance continued. Neighbor took the truck to dealer and read the codes. It read CPS and low oil. I guess the PSD also has a low oil sensor that was shutting the engine off. After 2 qts top-off, everything works fine.
