Post Missing... No Power!!!

I have a 2000 F250 CC with auto and only 75000 miles. My problem is that it seemed to start out as a cough at higher rpm or cruise speed (after changing the fuel filter about a month ago). It gradually got worse. Then today coming home (about 270mi trip), it has gradually lost all power and is missing bad, not smoking though. I pulled the fuel filter, it was decently clean, didn't see any water either. Don't have anything to read codes. Would it be the CPS?

Been reading here for the last couple months trying to learn all I can. Thanks

Take it to checker auto or a similar parts store. Have them read the codes. Very well could be the CPS.

Thanks for the reply Rooster. Greatly appreciated. Everything is closed now, so I'll get that done tomorrow.

Probably more questions to come.

Thanks again

Doesn't sound like CPS to me. Sounds more like it could be the wiring harness going through valve covers to injectors. I hear they can fry due to a poor connection.

At first I thought it may be water, kinda acted the same. Fueled up and added some DK, hoping it would get better. Longer I ran, the worse it got. About 5 to 10 miles from home (lucky me), it would hardly pull itself flat on the floor - didn't really matter what position the throttle was as long as it was down. Boost wouldn't increase much til I had a little speed (down slight grades or on a flat) Also thought it might be tranny, but put it in neutral and still the same. Take off was a choreand would hardly take off.

Run everything through my mind to what could normally be, but that doesn't seem to pertain here. lol I checked my oil when I fuel'd up, it is up (just changed it about 700 mi ago from Mobil Delvac 1300 to Shell Rotella T). After running everything through, it would just about have to be the injectors. Oil pressure is good and oil is clean.

Thanks for the replys guys. I'm new to diesels and I'm kinda lost. Not so much as mechanic-ing (been doin' that since I can remember, not outa choice but need). Worked on big trucks some...PSD is new to me, and I need help...lol

Trying to keep from going to dealer if at all possible. $$$

Thanks guys, greatly appreciated. I'll try to check these items. Keep ya posted and hope it may help others.

Two things come to mind in addition to the cam sensor, bad fuel and possibly a bad throttle position sensor.

Exclamation

Other than the bad fuel idea (I've gotten fuel, all fill ups, about 6 times since filter change at 4 different places) would these things show up in codes?

Well, ended up taking to dealer...........they said it spit out a bunch of codes. They were gonna install new batteries and then pull valve covers. They said it may be wiring or injectors. We'll see, and keep ya up to date.

Well, here's the update.

Picked it up last night at the dealer. They had to do some work with the wiring under the valve covers and replace an injector..(My hat is off to you guys, the info in the your replies gave me some knowledge up front to prepare me for the dealer)........best news.. Engine warrentee covered those repairs.....Dealer also stated he got a "code" for 3rd gear in the tranny but alot of times when the batteries are bad.....it gives this code..(I knew one battery was bad) So I have 2 new batteries now. This dealer seems to be honest and upfront........even before he hooked it up to the computer, he had told me that it may be "covered".

It goes back in the morning........idling rough and missing.....seems to have a fuel leak which wasn't there before...... They said no problem..bring it to them........lol good deal.

Thanks guys, greatly appreciated. Gonna read some more and learn all I can.
