You've got a couple decisions to make. Do you want the beefier 3/4 ton axles? You're going to be swapping in a 3/4 drivetrain. Depending on how hard you run this rig, you might need the stronger axles to go with the big power plant. Also, do you want a solid front axle or a TTB?
If you do, you're going to end up with basically a 3/4 ton truck that's going to cost you a lot more than it would just to buy a 3/4 ton truck.
Except with a weaker frame. If you just want to do it because you can, then there's no problem with that. 
No matter what you decide, you're going to need to buy a parts truck. At some point, you're probably going to need to fab something up, so you should have access to a welder.
If you buy a 3/4 ton or 1 ton 4x4 truck with a 460 and a ZF, you're going to get all your parts in one place.
