2000 ford f150 windshield wiper problem

can any one help me??? ill be driving down the road and the windshield wipers just go crazy. then in the morning when its really cold or icy they dont work at all. has any one had this problem???? i called the ford dealer here and they said that they never heard of a truck doing that. all comments welcome thanks

Sounds like a possible multi-function switch that's going bad.

i have a 2000 f-150 and wife works a ford dealer and she took it in for service and they fixed something on the wipers that was a recall.

You are referring to the wiper motor gear cover. I don't think it would cause this symptom, but the recall does need to be performed. I would put money on the multi-function switch, from experience. I have replaced a bunch of them for that symptom.
