I live in the central N.Y. area ...... my 8'2" Boss power V was stolen right out of my yard the other day /night.... I work a full time and a part time job so I'm not home very much....it was in the same spot all summer .....this is just a heads up to all , keep a closer eye on your plows there are a lot of low lifes out there ...... Marty
That sucks!,I would find all the boss dealers in your area and notify them of your situation.Do you have the serial #'s of the plow.Just alert them of this.If any one comes in looking for parts or repairs on anything. It might catch the guy,you never know.
His homeowner's insurance may take care of it but if he's planning to move within 3 years, he may not be able to get insurance on the new house. Somebody stole my John Deere mower and weed trimer back in June 2000. We went to buy a new house in 2002 and the agent said if we had filed any claims within 3 years, the company wouldn't insure. We tried just about every homeowners insurance company. Same story. We had to wait until after June 2003 before we bought one. Why don't the insurance companies just not insure personal property instead of taking your money to insure it and then penalize you if you have a valid claim?
Marty, sorry to hear of your stolen plow. Hope you get it back. Spread the word and do as FortyFords said on letting the Boss plow dealers know. It was probably someone who wanted or needed a plow so they either had a Boss setup or will be getting one.
Just make it annoying for them to steal. 2 Chains or cables with padlocks + set something in front of it that would make it work to get in. The people that steal plows drive in, quick hookup and leave. Make some kind of lockable brackets that blocks them from driving into it and hooking up. All the new quick connect plows do have one major drawback and now you know what it is.
Hello all- Culprit2 sorry to hear about your plow. FYI, Boss makes a locking system that locks over the two "hooks" where the plow attaches to the truck. I'm not sure of the cost, but I know they make them and they seem to work. The Boss dealer near me has several plows outside, all with the locks on them.
Whoever stole that plow undoubtedly has the boss hook up, that plow is way too heavy to lift into a truck to steal. Good luck!
thanks for all of the replys .... I settled with my home owners insurance, they are covering the whole cost less the deductable, they are even paying for the jack that it was sitting on.....I'm just waiting for the police report in order to get the check....the new plow is all set and as soon as the check is here I'll be picking up the plow ....once again, thanks for all the replys and concerns.... hey big6.0 thanks for the tip , I'll check into that when I pick up the plow ......... Marty
