tranny problem
I have a 94 ranger, SuperCab, 3.0 liter with an automatic transmision and it has been smoking only when i turn a left hand corner and on startup. The tranny has been sliping due to loss of fluid but no puddles under truck, the motor oil has not changed levels, can anyone help me figure out what is wronge and if it is a costly thing to fix? Does this mean that the trany needs to be rebuilt? It does have 130,000 miles on it.

It sounds unrelated. The startup smoke indicates bad valve seals. What color is the smoke on turning and also on startup? That will tell a lot about what's causing it.

Here's a thought, check the modulator on the tranny, it might be leaking and allowing the fluid to be sucked into the engine. Tranny fluid in the vacuum line from the modulator is an indication of this problem.

Thanks I checked the modulator valve an I pulled the vaccume line of and sure enough transmission fluid come running out I put a new one on, and I do belive that it is fixed. No more smoke so far.
