So a guy comes over and asks me today "how much for the old truck" so I blurted out a good number which I have decided no one would ever want to pay for my truck....$3000.....
The man replies "Let me get some money and I will come see you on monday"
EEEEK!!!! do I really want to sell my FIRST project as I have not even come close to finishing it? lemme get some opinions from you fine bunch o'folks.
like the other guy said, its all up to you...its ur project, therefore your decision....but if u think ud never be able to get anywhere near 3 for it from someone else, maybe you should let the guy have it and find a different one....you could maybe find one in better shape for that kind of money....either way, you cant lose.....
since you said it, you ought to stand behind it. if he comes up with the 3000 you should take it since you said you would, it the honorable thing to do.
i have shot my mouth off so many times it isnt funny. lost a little bit on a few of them, but made money on most.
I agree with Jim, but the guy aint back with the money either. As for me, I would love for that to happen. That would give me a second chance. A chance to build a truck without having too much money in it. I put way too much in mine on the day that I bought it, and that keeps the stack much higher.
If you got a big mouth! Think before you open it.. You opened it, so be the Man you thought you were before you open it! U said 3 grand If he shows up..I'm sure you wouldn't like someone doing that too YOU.... my 2cent
orich
Be careful what you wish as you may get your wish! I sold a 67 Mustang 4 years ago and just bought it back for alot more money! Did I miss that big block mint fastback or what? Just had to have it back, I was lucky to be able to even be able to buy it back and it was even in better shape then when I sold it. Over the years I have sold 53/56, 67/72 F100`s and guess what, 3 years ago I bought one of each for a keeper. What goes around comes around. I have sold some Fords that I don`t miss but once in a while I do regret it enough to repurchase. My last 69 F100 I called off the sale because the buyer was talking about using it for parts , the truck was an excellent rust free vehicle, probably as good or better as what he was fixing up.
I'm with Jim & jowilker on this one. You told the man you'd sell for $3000, you'd better be able to folllow through or your credibility goes down the drain. If you're having second thoughts, you'd better be hoping the guy can't come up with the cash.
Don`t lose any sleep over this. If 1 out of 4 acutally do show up then they try to chisle you. Let us know what happens. A lesson learned either way, for next time.
What fomoko1 said, the guy probably won't show up with the cash. If he does, don't budge on your price a dime. On the other hand, if he does show up with 3 g's...
I think I will own up if this guy does show up, I been wanting a crew or super cab, anyhow. I have a family, and I am going to build a Karmann Ghia for the wife, so I want to be able to trailer the ghia and take the whole family to shows that are out of state or whatever. We'll see what happens.

just as I figured, the dude never showed up. now if someone asks the rediculous query as to weather I wanna sell "this old truck" the answer will be $8000, untill it is actually worth $6k then up it another $4k, basically
YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
but for real I would be tempted by $3000 right now, as christmas is once again upon us. $$ $$
