Help with VIN

I just got a new truck and need some help deciphering some stuff. It's a '69 F250 Camper Special Ranger. Does Ranger denote anything besides extra trim or are there enhanced performance features too? The engine was replaced with a 460. Was that available in '69? Is it an FE engine? The brakes are power and the fronts are disk. Was that an option in '69? I don't see the VIN up on the dash, but there is a warranty number on the driver door on a plate. It says F25HRF97699. I'm thinking that's the same as the VIN but could use confirmation. There is also this info: WB 131, color MH, model F254, body M 81, tran G, axle 38. max gw lbs 6900, cert net hp 185, rpm 400, dsd 74. Would any of these numbers change with the engine swap, or was the door tag changed to reflect the engine swap? Any help or info appreciated. Thanks.

It should answer a few questions for you.

Do you have a pic of that truck?

F25= F250 2wd
H= 390 ci V8
R= Made in San Jose, CA.
F97699= 1969 model consecutive build number

WB131= Long wheel base, 131 inches
Color MH= Wimbledon White/Cordova
Model F254= gross weight of 6900 lbs
Body M81= Conventional Cab
Transmission code G= Automatic
Axle 38= 3.73 Dana 60
Max Gross Weight= 6900 lbs
Cert Net HP= 185@ 4000 RPM
DSO 74= Seattle, WA. (made in San Jose, ordered for Seattle)

Also, Engine Code H= 390 ci with 255 HP and 8.6:1 compression ration on a 2 bbl carb.

Hope this helps you out. Don't know how good that website above decoded it...but this should do it.

Oh yeah... The 460 was not an engine option for the 1969 F250, and it is not an FE engine.

Once again, Good Luck, sounds like you have a nice truck there. I'm really partial to the 69 model...cept I like SWB F100's. But hey, I'd take them all.

Thanks for the info. The above website told me the truck was a '79. With the automatic trans on the 460, would that be a C6? I'm trying to post some pics but haven't quite figured out the gallery section yet. Also, I've got a question about the power steering. The resevoir looks the same as my '70. Would anything have changed when the front disk brakes were put on? The second owner was not too knowledgable about Fords and used regular power steering fluid and not type F. Can I mix type F with whats in there or should I drain it and refill with straight type F?
