Hi Everybody from getnold, yes I'm old and awfull slow. But I own a Ford! I'll make this brief.. Own a 89 F-150, dule tanks....Filled both and when I got home the rear one was leaking. Thought I had runner over something, but when I opened the cap and about a gallon came right out. Well I thought I had overfilled it. So I put the cap back on, drove it, and it did it again. WHAT am I doing wrong. Can anybody help? Thanks a lot....Bill
Sounds like you have a bad selector valve, when you are running the front tank the fuel is being pumped to the rear. Try running the rear tank first to see if it fills the front.
Morning..I'll get used to this just take me awhile...Tried running the back tank and it didn't seem to be filling up the front one. When I opened the back tank after running it......It didn't have the pressure it did yesterday.....
My '89 does the same thing but the rear tank fills the front. I dont use the truck very often but when I do I run the front tank until empty then run the rear tank, then when that tank gets low I change back to the front and then find a gas station. One of these days I will fix it.
Thank you. I'll probably do the same thing. Someone said this morning you have to watch out that you don't burn out the front pump, but I don't think it runs when you use the rear one. The former owner told my wife he only filled the back tank 2/3rds full. That might be an indication he knew but didn't tell me..Oh well I'll get it fixed I guess when it stops...Thanks again
