Either try to pick up a used motor, or get one rebuilt. I havn't heard great things about autozone engines, very cheaply assembled. Might want to look into Jasper...

I've not had good luck with Rebuilt engines the last few years, not just Ford, but any marque. And I've tried a number of suppliers. I have no doubt that quality rebuilts are available, but having bought a few from major chains I am sour on them, they've all had problems.

I prefer to rebuild my own, or at least get one from a local rebuilder, where I can go back and look the guy in the eye if it goes south. It isn't that hard to do, a minimum of mechanical skills are needed, there are plenty of resources for reference to work by. If you aren't doing a lot of mods.

Curious - how'd you crack the block? Since 300I6's are hard to break...If you don't mind saying.

I agree with RNE - go with a reputable local rebuilder - you've also got more input on quality of parts / mods / etc.

Go to a junkyard and take an engine just for the block, decide on the overbore dimensions ( IE 30 over 40 over and so on) and then buy a rebuild kit. For that 1100 $$$ you might want to look into clifford performance and get the rebuild for the 300, you can get good high performance stuff for i think its 799 and then the block would probably be less than 300 then you could have a serious rig for the same price or less...
