Autolite 1100 Troublesome-Help
I really wish somebody knew something about these Autolite carbs. I have had one worry or another out of this thing since I bought this truck. First the flooding thing because nobody has the press in float needle/seat. Now I guess I am having some sort of cold weather problem. Tonight I let my 300 warm up maybe 5 minutes and pulled off. Suddenly the thing went to barely taking gas enough to stay running. Thank goodness I was in a parking lot. The only thing I did was turn the antistall screw in 3 turns. I remembered that I had forgotten to re set that adjustment. It had no initial effect. I could barely keep it running but it never competely quit unless I gave up the pedal fight. Then I jarred the throttle to the floor and qickly let off and it was like flipping a switch. The engine immediatly ran as normal and performed as normal the whole nervous ride home. I'm going to be a nervous wreck driving this thing. It seems to have a pucker factor of 8 out of 10. I'm trying not to get discouraged because probably one small thing is causing most of the problems I have had. I posted earlier wondering about that check ball that is missing at the spark control valve. I wish I knew more about what that whole spark control thing is all about and if it could cause a problem like I mentioned.
Guess for the record I should say I am refering to a 65 Autolite 1100 single barrel on a 300 six-3spd standard trans.
