Angry Vacuum lines?

I originally posted this in the carb forum, and I am reposting it here hoping for a response:

I got an 85 F-350 2WD MT with an I-6 with a Carter YFA (as far as I know) non-feedback 1-bbl carb (there isn't an EEC and it's DS-II). The carb has 2 solenoids (or something) with connectors on the left as you look at it. Some vacuum part on the rear right (of course nothings connected & looks like it use to have a linkage connected to it). On the front right (below what I believe was the feedback port from a carb I'd seen at the parts store) is what looks like a vac vent of some sort connected to what looks like a spark delay connected to another port in the middle of the right side (this doesn't even correspond to the emissions label). This is all as you look aft from the front of the engine.
When I got my 'project' truck, half the vacuum lines are either removed or not connected to the correct places. There isn't a VVA or 'coffee can' and the EGR isn't connected.
I spent most of the day rerouting according to emissions sticker but run into the problem of trying to figure out the ports on the carb. These are labeled from top-to-bottom & counter clockwise: V, E, S, 3, BV) I have a Haynes & Chiltons but both really don't explain the routing off the Carter YFA (it looks like the YFA in the manuals). Went to Advanced Auto to get help identifying parts and that was no luck! In addition, the emissions label has a component 'P/D MTR' what does this stand for and what does it look like? The problem is I have no way of id'ing components & the major auto parts places call them differently from Ford & most people have no experience with carbs (at least from my experience here).
If someone has an I-6 w/ Carter YFA, pics of the engine compartment and/or vacuum components would be GREATLY appreciated!!When I got my 'project' truck, half the vacuum lines are either removed or not connected to the correct places. Your motor is of a dreaded vintage with what I'm sure is a near rat's nest under the hood. Unfortunately, I can't answer all your questions, but I can surely try to help. I have a really crappy site that has some vacuum diagrams for the 300. Search my username using google. It's like the last link on the first page of results. I never had a chance to get the '85 stuff scanned, and the manuals are in storage some miles away. Your post reads like you have the schematic, you're just having some difficulty deciphering it and linking symbols with actual components? I'm sorry but I'm only familiar with around '79 components. Looking at a couple of '83 diagrams though, the E is going to be tied somehow to the EGR, S is tied to the spark advance on the dizzy, BV is BOWL VENT - typically really big at the front of the carb and goes to the charcoal canister. No clue on the P/D motor other than maybe a type and is P/B from power brakes motor AKA brake booster? Not sure on that one or the 3. I HAD to reinstall all the original equipment on my '79 (long story) and I found some sources of information were:

1) Haynes "Emission Control" techbook (available at most parts stores) of OK, general use.
2) Junkyard Vehicles - you can find a number of components on junkers and maybe some still with vacuum lines intact....that's if you have yards around that let you look around.
3) Dealer parts - Your truck should be "young" enough to have a decent records still available. You'll be at the whim of the counter person though - any help will involve work on their part.
4) Look into trucks for sale. Owner maybe willing to let you look under the hood at his/her vehicle for sale.

I found something that maybe a jewl of sorts for you on evilbay, item# 7937138331 (I have bought from these people, and they are good, honest)

That should at least get you in the right direction. It's tough to find someone with exactly the same calibration. Ford was doing a lot of creative things to get the trucks to pass emissions. Why are you attempting to replumb the truck?

Thanks for the help. Yep, I have the schematic on the radiator. I also have volumes A & C of the Ford Repair Manuals. I am looking for vol. HT for the emissions & B for the engine.

I am replumbing because the truck runs ok after warm-up and gets horrid gas mileage. I rebuilt the motor last year so the problems are in the fuel delivery. With the lines in the wrong places, I've never got the motor fully tuned correctly. I know the vacuum lines are going to be the main culprit with half the stuff missing. Right now it runs SUPER rich until fully warmed up, and I have to hold my foot on the pedal until it fully warms else it'll blow smoke and tries to die. Once its warmed it runs like a champ. I am thinking its either not draining the fuel out of the bowl after shutdown or sucking the fuel out of the charcoal canister before its out of idle. From what I understand thats controlled by vacuum. And looking at the schematics, nothing was fully connected as it should - that's just on the Evap Emiss side. Who knows on the carb side.....So I have part of it connected up correctly, up to the point where I am missing parts: the vacuum amp & resevoir for starts. Once I can find those, its a matter of tees and hose.

I am trying to get by for now until I switch it over to FI. I found an 86 Mustang 302 CFI unit with harness and EEC-IV (I even got a 302 manifold with it). I was going to use that to convert it over but then ran into the problem of where to put some of the sensors. I just don't have the expertise or capabilities of drilling holes in the block, head, and I-6 manifold for all the sensors. So I think I am going to sell everything but the CFI and build up a MegaSquirt system. I wish I had the time and money; I would find a 302, rebuild it, and throw it in instead.
