different susupension?
the front end of my truck is really low compared to the back end of the truck. i want to replace the leafs in the front but i was thinking maybe i can replace the frnt leafs repalceing then with something allittle more haevy duty, and was comsidering the diesel pakcage since the diesel engine is a bit heavier.
thanks for any comments

Create a signature or post some specs on your vehicle.
Most of these trucks are deliberatly set up by the Factory to be towing machines and so the rear end is higher without a load on it. Many folks don't like the look so they spend money to "level" with either smaller blocks in the back or some method if lift 1.5"to 3" in front. Depending on your vehicle there are a bunch of different ways to do it.
Yes there is a difference in the front of PDS vs. V10 simply because the Diesel motor is a LOT heavier than the gassers. But the real only difference is spring rateings and how many leafs in the stack sometimes.
Droop or sag can and does ocassionally happen and is fixed with new springs.
Folks mix and match different spring codes all the time and you can even find plenty of fellow who had lift kit install with new springs that left them with rusting mess in the garage they would like to be free of.
Check the FAQs, search for info, check out the want adds both here and the diesel site and you should be able to do a trade to stronger or more arches spring set. Don't forget about issues with your shock length once you start changing things around. They will only compress and extend so far so if you get out of theur range they will need to be replaced with longer ones.
FWIW, springs rates are computer selected based on cab configuration, engine, packages and options. There are basically 6 different types of springs that are all letter coded. I can dig up the codes if you need.
OR search the Excursion forum for SPRING CODE CHART. I posted it all a year or so ago. It'll also give you an idea how much lift the springs will give you.
I have kept in contact with the guy who runs the shop now, and he has told me that the only suspension lift that they will reccomend now for the V-10 is the Superlift for the same reasons I mentioned above.
I have no experience with the Superlift on the V-10, (as I left the shop before Ford put the V-10 in the pick-ups) but I would be interested to here from those who have. I still havn't decided to lift my truck or not.
