My freind at school (a chevy fan so i donno if he made this up or not) said something about a Ford Ranger model that was suped up trying to look imitate the "little brother" of the Lightning? He said its name which I forget and said it had around 200hp or something. Is there any truth to this? Thank ya much
I have heard of this, they talked about it on Speedvision the other night. It's gonna be called the Thunderbolt. It's essentially an option package you can order with the 2wd Rangers. Aside from being naturally aspirated, it's got the same modifications as the Lightning.
What I'd like to see is a Super Duty set up like this. Think about it: F-350, DRW, Supercharged DOHC V-10, give it a cool name that fits with Lightning and Thunderbolt, maybe Thunderstorm. Now that would be really cool.
200 hp? Ford needs to put into production the other project SVT had when the lightning was designed, the ranger with the 5.0 in it.... but they don't make 5.0's anymore. they need to find a way to stuff the cobras 4.6 in there, like K members instead of I beams or something. 4.6's are too wide. but that would be a nice truck
How bout putting a turbo on it (2.3L) out of a t-bird turbo coupe(1988) with head work, crank, cam rods, etc, and a beefed up cersion of the tranny they used. Or they could use the 97' supercoupe engine and tranny. That would make a good project truck no to mention a kick as* truck. I've seen a ranger that has a mustang 5.0L that probably had 150 extra hp without a supercharger or nitrous.
