Hi all, I'm a very new user to this site and really like what I have been reading. I have a small problem and could use some help. I have a 67 F100 with an I6 that is sucking air around the intake manifold to the head. I have found a replacement manifold and have been cleaning it up. I need to know what the torque spec's are for the manifold bolts. I would also like to know if there is a perferred tightening pattern. No I don't have any literature and I don't have a chiltons manual.
Another question is would anyone have comments about using some High Temp silicone to help seal the intake manifold.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks to all and hope your Thanksgiving day is great.
the following number is the sequence in which that bolt should be tightened, left to right, assuming you have a single (carbed) exhaust manifold:
(left) 4 5 2 6 3 7 1 8 11 9 12 10 13 (right side)
I wouldn't be afraid to use the HIGH TEMP rtv silicone sealant, use a small amount and let it cure a little bit, not too long, before you put the exh manifold/intake on, it requires oxygen to dry. I used a very small amount on the intake and exh ports, both sides of the gasket and it works fine.
By a small amount I mean a very thin bead, maybe 1/32-1/16 wide, it doesn't take much. Good luck
