86' cracked manifold
Hello fellow ford owners!
Anyone out there with 127,000 miles, that has a cracked manifold? I was curios on how,or where you found such a replacement manifold. I went to my Ford dealer, they told me that the production of my manifold ceased sometime in the year 2000! I live in a city where most of these parts have been "picked through". The ford parts guy said that the 86' was identical to the mustang 2300 engine manifolds.
The local parts store has a listing for a Motormite cast iron manifold for $130.00. Could this work? Ford was selling theirs for $400.00 two years ago...WOW! Any suggestions? I can not pass my Smog only test with this problem.
Also, reading these other posts...I guess I am in line for a Timing belt,....but this truck is only worth about $500.00!!!!!!
Thanks for any input for my put put! Thanks, bozo4ford
I'm sure you know how frustrating this can be. All the Salvage yards either don't have them,or if they do,they're cracked. One muffler shop said he could order one through Dorman Model number #674-320, manifold including gasket. Have you ever ordered anything through Action Auto wreckers from N.Y.? They are half the price for a new one....decisions...decisions...I over on the other side..California. Anyway, thanks for the reply!
I've tried several car places, one of which were helpful,....www.vikingtruckandauto.com) but it would take 4-5 days, where I found one newly re-manufactured one from a Salvage yard,in the box,(old/new stock)which I think I will use instead of the weld job. I'm sure if it's done right,it should maybe last for another 50,000-100,000 miles, but the major problem I have found by talking to owners of old rangers, that if the cat converter gets plugged,it will overheat the manifold.
Thanks alot! bozo4ford
