I dropped her off at the dealership this AM. ('01 F250, Auto, 7.3L / 94K miles)
I think the Cam Sensor is bad, per all the posts here.
Now I'm worried, the Service Tech did not know if the Cam Sensor was covered under the warranty or not. He said the warranty only "covers internally lubricated parts" and he would have to check the part number to see if it's covered.
He also said a typical price to repair "check engine light" issues is $250.00 - $350.00
This is a very large Delaership, the service rep should know whats covered or not shouldn't he? I can't be the first F250 to have this issue.
Anyone have specifics (in writting) about the engine warranty?<!-- / message -->
The cam position sensor is covered under the warranty. The specifics for your year would be contained in your warranty booklet that came with the truck, but here's a scan of what it says on those pages for my year (2003): http://www.backglass.org/duncan/2003...anty_pages.pdf
Note that the cam sensor is explicitly called out as covered.
