Ideling Fuel Consumption
I have a 2001 Excursion 7.3L 4x4 XLT.
Just wondering what the fuel consumption rate is while ideling. Sometimes used as generator for the TT.
Other times leave it ideling so baby doesn't wake up.
ie.... 1 gal/hr ??????

if you like your truck, I would not recomend idiling it for hours, not good if you use it for generator, get a aic set it to 1200 to 1500 rpm, better yet buy a generator gas.

Some say they wouldn't recommend others say ideling isn't an issue.
Those big rigs will idle all night sometimes.
What gives?

Those big rigs have idle controllers, like was suggested in the previous post, to keep the idle speed up a bit.

Any gas consumption figures? Please!
So you are saying proping a brick up on the pedal wouldn't suffice
