AVS Stepside Taillight Covers
Hey everyone. I bought some Auto VentShade taillight covers for my 1980 Ford F100 Custom stepside truck. They were actually for 1987-2003 Jeep Wranglers, but they have the exact same taillights as the stepside trucks.
The only thing was that they use double-sided sticky tape to stay on. If you had to change the bulb in one of the lights, you would be out of luck, since the taillight covers cover up the screws.
I actually solved that problem.
What I did, I unscrewed all 4 screws that hold on a lens on one of the taillights. I took the screws completely out, but left the lens in. Then I peeled off the covers on the sticky tape, stuck them on the lenses. Then I took the covers off, and the lens stayed on them. I then took a drill, drilled the holes from the inside to the outside. I then put the cover with the lens inside it back onto the taillights, and screwed the whole thing back onto the taillights. Now the cover along with the lens is screwed into the taillight, and looks pretty sweet.
If you've never seen the covers, they are black, and have horizontal slots in them (top slot is for the backup light, and the bottom three are for the brake/turnsignal light).
They look nice. I will be sure to include a picture on here in my gallery of them as soon as I have a chance to!
