Buying stuff at Sears

I don't ordinarily shop at Sears but I got a note from a friend tonight that might change my mind. It seems that Sears is not only holding the job's for the activate reservists (at the Fed Law provides) but they are also picking up the pay difference between military compensation of Employee/Reservists activated from what those Sears employees were making as full time workers at the store's. Also, Sears is carrying the medical and other benifits for these people for the two years they are on active duty. This is a far cry from how Mayflower Moving Company treated me when my Nat. Guard LRRP company got activated in 1968 for Vietnam. I got fired by those scum bags in Indianapolis when I went in for my final pay check befor shipping out.

Anyway, I don't know how to confirm the Sears story but if it's true I'm going to go in and at least buy my wife a bottle of perfume.

Not many go the extra mile like Sears. (She might prefer the wood router, table saw and ratchet set. Think of the servicemen and women she would be helping with your gifts.)

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand but I can't believe Sears got bought by KMart. That's just an insult.

That's why I said to hell with Target, not that it effects my buying/shopping habits anyway. I fully understand there no solicitation policy, but it is the Salvation Army at Christmas. Nough said.

I guess Target fell to the PC types now. My debate is whether or not to raid the clearance rack at Mervyn's every again!

Ran by Wal-Mart the other night to check on prices for their tow hitch ball mount and some other related stuff....donated a few buck to Toys for Toys.

I'm not Wal-Mart hugger, but if Sears and K-Mart joined up to take on Wally World, they must be doing something right.

serious!? ive only started going there cause i quit going to walmart. and then i read the thing about bestbuy and the ceos speech about people like me being devil customers so i had to stop going there too. except when im on devil missions with my price matching and rebate coupons. sorry if a college kid that can only work so many hours have to resort to using a coupon at a huge nationwide chain that makes hundreds of millions of dollars. theres nowhere for me to buy anything!!

Intel Corporation has a similar policy. Never made the news though.

That's cool that a company, especially a large one has A HEART to do something like that, especially the benefits thing with the employees, has to be a great burden lifted off of them that they know their family still has insurance.

I heard that before about Sears. Good to know. It's a good reason to shop there, as far as I'm concerned.

Our family and a lot of our friends ring the bell here at Walmart and Kmart every year, and we've never had any trouble with either of them. They are always glad to have us there.

As for Target and others, they must have their reasons, but they're making a mistake. That's a good reason for me not to shop there. The Salvation Army is very active in our area, and a lot of families are better off because of it.
