If it wasn't for the computer I'd say no( aslong as theres no wires going into the piping after the part you want to cut out I'd do it. plus this should moved in the exhaust section or 6.0 PSD section.
Does it hurt anything to cut the cat and muffler off of a 2004 6.0 and put a straight pipe on?

As far as I can tell from multiple discussions here it doesn't hurt to remove the muffler but there is no real reason to remove the cat. The cat causes no reduction in performance so the standing theory here is why remove it and risk a fine or other penalty.
I had muffler removed early in life of my 03, didn't notice any difference other than more good sound, then last year (before knew about FTE) installed a MBRP dual system turbo back, initially catless..... you talking about turbo whistle like you aint never heard, you could hear it half mile away, there was a definite power increase as well. after taking the wifee out had to put cat back on, still have awesome tone, without pratt and whitney coming out from under truck, lots of power too.
