98 Ranger Help
I need a little help, if someone could oblige.
Last night I was working on my truck (1998 4x4), and I wanted to top off the fluid in the transfer case. One problem: I didn't know what it took, and I didn't have the manual because I bought it used. So I called my cousin, who works on trucks, and his buddy...they both agreed to top it off with 80W gear lube. Big mistake....found out this morning that it's supposed to be Dexron 3 tranny fluid.
Question #1: How serious a boo-boo is this?
Question #2: If I have to drain the transfer case to remove the 80W, do I also have to flush it....and how would i go about that?
