Hard to start when warm

I have a 1994 F-250 with a 460 cid engine. We have logged 236,000 miles pulling a 26' gooseneck with 4 to 6 horses and related gear. Recently the truck became hard to start when the least bit warm. It refused to start when run for five minutes to come to normal operating temperature. A mechanic diagnosed this as a battery issue as it was 6 years old. Changed the battery and nothing. My friend then noted that a weak battery can ruin a starter. That change out was next. Still the same. An old friend ruminated on the issue and asked about the engine block ground cable. I traced it from the firewall to its attachment point and it was loose. Tightened it up and it works like it should. Just a reminder at my expense to start with the simple things first.

You probably should clean up the other grounds too :-)
Cheers,

Thanks, actually, I had cleaned every contact point I could find as most people were certain the battery/solenoid contacts were corroded. I have since checked all the body/frame grounds that I can find. Since I don't travel quite as much now (over 50, then some does that to you in rodeo) and limit my travel to weekend jackpots, I really need the truck to be dependable, and it is again.
Again, thanks. Tex
