I have a 1991 F250 LD with the 5.0L engine. I was wondering if it is possible to swap the throttle body from a mustang 5.0L. I would like to swap the two because i would have more options for putting a cold air intake on the truck. The mustang throttle body would provide that by having a single opening rather than two. Any thoughts?
If i remember right, the upper plenum on both engines is identical. Check what im saying by checking the part numbers between your intake and the mustang intake. I know the iac, tps, and efe coolant pipes are the same. Wondering if you might have a modification issue with the throttle and throttle valve linkage but im sure you could work that out. Definitly sounds like it would work, please post when its done, id like to hear how it turned out.
You would have to swap the entire intake manifold for this to work. The truck lower will not match the mustang upper manifold, and the mustang throttle body will not go on the truck manifold. The throttle linkage would have to be modified as well, with a mustang intake manifold. The truck manifold is probably better suited for the truck since it has longer runners and is designed for more torque at lower rpms.
ok, so obvious issues with this mod. does anyone know why the throttle body has two openings on the trucks? theres no maf to worry about on the intake tubing, and the air filter is nothing special in size so why the two intake pipes instaed of one?
