Custom Build-ing a Ranger

Well i'm going to try to slip a 3.8 Liter v6 in between the fender wells of a 1987 Ranger, what all will i have to change, i'm speculating that i'll have to change the motor mounts and fab up a crossmemeber mount for the trans. Also where can i get a non computerised dizzy for this motor, considering its coming out of an 85 model car? thanks in advance

What is the 3.8 comming out of? When I think of 3.8 I think of a taurus but the T-birds and cougars had 'em too didn't they? Well anyways if you got one out of a rear wheel drive car you probably won't have any problem with a tranny mount on the crossmember. You are more likely to have a problem with the location of the crossmember. I am assuming that the 3.8 is carburated? What kind of an ignition does it have? I don't know a lot about these engines but know a few useful things when it comes to swapping things around. You might wind up getting an aftermarket ignition since they are easy to work with, and since the ranger is fuel injected this will be a plus. All you need is a hot wire or power source to hook the ignition to and wire it to the engine and all of that other fun stuff. The biggest thing might be coming up with your engine mounts. You might have to do the same thing like a V8 swap and use fox body motor mounts and make some plates that adapt the mounts to the crossmember.

Its coming from an 85 Model Mercury Marquis, its got the TFI ignition module that will be swapped out for one from an 82 Cougar 3.8. I was thinking i'd need the motor mounts but wasn't sure. Thanks...any other advice is welcome!
