Engine Stamped with Vin#?

Hi All;

Aren't most engines stamped with a VIN# or at least a serial number? If so, where would this number be located on an early '90's 5.8L (351).

drivers side at the rear above the bell housing and below the head .

Thanks. Is it actually a VIN? Or some other ID number?

that is the engine # not a vin but some #s will correspond to the original vehicles vin#
