Mystery Part

I am currently tradsferring components and accesories over from a 93 F-150 302 to a 89 T-Bird 302. The T-Bird 302 is replacing a tired motor with 235,000. When I was cleaning up and replacing gaskets on the motor, I found this layin gon the floor Below the engine stand. I am assuming it fell out at some point in the process. I am hoping someone can tell me what it is and where it goes. I posted the picture of the part in my gallery which can be seen at: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=13321

Could it be part of the oil pump bypass??

Any thoughts are appreciated!!

I am ready to reassemble, but do not want to get to far befiore knowing where it goes.

THanks again.

Nate

Mystery

That's a strange looking part to me. Looks like a metering rod hanger for an Edelbrock Performer or Carter AFB carb. If you have either of these, then that would be my guess. Otherwise, I have no idea.

Maybe part of the oil pump bypass or part of a lifter.

Still looking....

Well I know it is not part of a lifter, and since it is EFI it is not part of the carburator. I have searched and searched and could not find anywhere where it could have came from. I looked all around the oil pump and filter area to see if it was part of a bypass. I also looked in the chiltons manual and could find nothing. I am hoping it was just a part off of something else in my pigsty garage that rolled under the stand. I guess we will find out tomorrow when I put the engine back in and give her a whirl. Thanks for the help.

Whatever the hell it is, it didn't come out of the motor. That's for sure.

Don't sweat it.
