Thank you
I just wanted to say thank you to the contributors of this board. I just bought a 2000, V-10 Excursion, Limited, 4x4 in cherry condition for $5K under KBB trade-in. It seems the owner was convinced that either the motor or tranny was about to let loose, even though he was the 1st owner, taken care of it, and had only 50K miles on it. A visit to McKenzie Ford in Portland Oregon was no help to this fellow. After reading every post in the V-10 section, I was pretty easily able to diagnose the noise as "flutter". I paid the man a few days later, brought the truck to my house, and in about 10 minutes, with two hoseclamps on a exhaust heat shield, and a 1/4" bend to a dust plate, and baddabing, the noise is gone! The rig is awesome and I'm very happy to be back in a Ford after owning two Bronco's (1 older, 1 newer) that I loved, but had to swap for a Suburban after the wife started hatchin out kids.
Happy Holidays,
Bluewater
