2008 Ford F250 rattling noise.

So about a week and a half ago I purchased a 2008 Supercrew Ford F250 5.4L XL with 74K, and I got it at a reasonable price(I purchased it at a auction sale). The truck for 74k is in I would say is in bad shape, almost as if it has 200k and someone played around with the odometer. Another thing about the truck I knew it was an XL when I bought it thing is the previous owner(s) skimped by buying a XL, and made up for it with customizations, some of which were not properly installed, or are broken. The front headlights are after market (blueish light), they look nice but all the lights do not work, their is an after market in dash DVD player that is not properly seated, among this slew of badly put together after market parts I believe their is after market exhaust. I have the following questions:

1. Did Ford ever make a dual rear exhaust out from both sides? At idle this sounds like a psd.

2. At 60Kph the truck makes a weird noise almost like it is coming from the rear left hand side of the truck I cannot make out if it is the exhaust or the tire, it sounds like the noise a non loaded 18 wheeler makes when it passes you on a wet highway at high speed, is this normal? I thought it might be normal, but my friends V10 F350 2004 does not make this noise, and it starts at 55kph-70Kph?

3. Pass 70Kph, it makes a noise that I know for sure is not right, it sounds like it is coming from the front but I suspect the exhaust, it is a rattling noise and it starts at like 70Kph -75kph, and it is the loudest at 80kph. What is going on?

Sorry about spewing all these problems on you guys I am a bit frustrated. However I love everything Ford about this truck, transmission is awesome 110Kph at 2000rpm is great when driving on the highway. The truck looks awesome, I love the size. Oh did I mention the looks? This truck would be great if it was not for the previous owner's tastes.

I think I might just drive this right back to the auction and buy another truck maybe a new F150, or buy a used Superduty where I can test drive it and double check around the truck, the auction was almost knee jerk, I saw a low price and I went for it. Buyer beware. I might trade it in, I am pretty sure I can get more from it then what I payed for it.

Your noises are probably all exhaust related. The previous owner probably hung the ehaust without using the proper rubber isolated hangers. Is the exhaust still stock from the manifolds to the cats? If so, take it to a quality muffler shop and have a new exhaust done or order a quality cat back system.

Also, check the tires for signs of tread separation, flat spots or radial belt separation.

Stock headlights are easy to find on eBay. You will probably need a conversion harness to fit the one piece composite lights, since yoyr truck likely came with the sealed beam headlights.

Stock stereos are all over eBay, but you can also find a quality after market one. Be sure to get the proper install/harness kit. Check to make sure that the previous owner didn't cut up the harness in the truck to install the junk that's in there.

no there was never a dual exhaust out each side from the factory..

sounds like what your hearing is all exhaust related..

before you get out of the truck why not just take it to a quality exhaust shop in your area and have em evaluate it and posible repair/replace it all ???

Sounds are exhaust related. Go to a shop and have a stock equivalent exhaust put on.

Check the tires. You do not want a tread separation blowout - it will cause body damage.

Get an OEM Ford radio. Get the CD player from the XLT.

Pull those ugly ricer lights and either install the OEM XL sealed beams or the XLT+ composite. Since it has the aftermarket lights, they may have been adapted from the sealed beams. All XLs came with sealed beams unless the Chrome package was ordered. Does the truck have chrome bumpers or black plastic?

It has chrome bumpers, and its also a after market grille. Today the rattling noise is gone the bear like exhaust sound remains. The after market headlights are not wired properly or have burned out. Their is some work to be done with this truck standby for pictures soon.

If the chrome bumpers were not added by the last owner, it has the chrome appearance package which came with the composite headlights, which means you won't have to rewire (unless you want to go to the sealed beams).
