Well last week I was picking my son up from school and I had to wait in the truck for a little bit for him to come out. While I was sitting there I heard the familiar noise that i had been told was the power steering pump. I realized that I had my heater on and that it was getting very hot. So I turned off the heater and the noise stopped.
So what could that be. I'm noit familiar with all the parts that go along with the heater. The noise is very consistent there is a click the about a 4 second of a ratchety noise then another click and then it stops for about 2 seconds and then starts all over. It is located underneath the passanger side dashboard. Thanks for any help.
I think it could be your A/C clutch....It goes in and out making a click noice every 4 seconds or so...then it stops...then it goes again. Although AC should not engage in heater...but if you are using the DEFROST or AC or max AC...then the AC clutch is engaged and the click sound starts....i would recomment you turn on your truck...put the same settings...that is..your heater at whatever selection you had...either defrost or AC or MAX AC...pop your hood open and look at your compressor....your will see it spin and stop with a click....if thats your noise...its normal and you have nothing to worry about...you probably were paying too much attention to your truck...happens everytime you are at a stop.
