I have an 86 Bronco. I had my 302 fi rebuilt 700 miles ago. I have a high idle and as I drive it stays between 1500 and 2000 rpm. If I am driving in 3rd gear I can apply the brake till the Bronco about stalls and I can feel a kick down in the throttle and i shift into nuetral.
I have replaced the TPS and IAC, yes I have taken off the negative battery terminal cable for about 20 minutes to reset the computer. I was getting a code saying the EGR posistion sensor was bad and I put a vaccum cap on the rod of the sensor and it cleared the codes. I have cleaned the trottle body and I still have a problem.
I know how you feel.
Does anybody have a sugestion wher to look next?
Dutch, if you dont have a vaccum leak pull off the iac/isc valve and check it. Lots of times that carbon you were squirting away ends up in the iac valve and will stick it open. A good place to start at least.
Trick, if you checked the obvious and dont have a binding cable or throttle linkage look for a vaccum leak first. With that said, being you mentioned an egr dtc, look at the egr valve first for the source of the leak. Either the valve stuck open or the gasket around it.
thanks- I noticed a year ago when the egr valve was replace that I initally had a high idle. It "calmed down" So, yes I will consult Chilton's to find the iac/isc valve.
Also will double check the egr valve
