Last week I posted a message saying that my truck would start missing and stuff then stall. I thought it was just bad gas because when I drove it home the second night from work it ran fine with no issues. Yesterday I took it into town to fill it up. It ran fine into town, after filling the tank it started to do the same thing. Stalled on me 3 times on my way home. The funny thing is that it would start right up after it stalled and run fine for about a couple of miles then do the same thing. I was thinking now maybe fuel filter causing this problem? Some people mentioned that it could possibly be the coil also cutting out? I heard that Ford's were good about coils going out? They say they don't cost much so I am thinking about replacing the fuel filter and coil. Forgot to mention this is 1986 Ranger 2.9 4wd fuel injection. Did check fuel lines no leaks or anything so I know it is not that. Any other suggestions I should try or should both of these hopefully solve my problem? Also the only light that works is the brake light so I don't even know when the check engine light comes on. Need to figure out soon. Winter is coming!
Thanks ranger pat. I went to the auto store and bought a new TFI module tonight and installed it. I also put it a new coil the other one looked liked it was getting corroded where the wires plug in so I think it needed replaced also. Afterwards took into town and back and ran with no issues. Also seemed like it had more power than before. I will be taking it to work tomorrow so will see what happens.
