I noticed a small tear in my Line-X bedliner this weekend. I was as surprised with the tear (just moving a washer and dryer in and out) as I was with the thickness of the liner that I discovered. It's only about 1/16" thick. I was told prior to installation that it would 3/16" to 1/4" thick in the bed. Any of you guys know how thick your Line-X is in the bed?
I know it can be repaired easily but think if I'm getting a little cheated here with the thickness, or lack of.
I always thought it was 1/16 on the sides and 3/16 on the bed. I would definitely be having a conversation with the installer. I think you got ripped off bro!!
My thoughts exactly. I'm going to give them a call this morning to find out how they can get this taken care of. At this point, I think they need to respray the entire bed until the thickness is satisfactory. We'll see how it goes.
I wan't to get a spray on bed liner, but the dealer told me it would void the paint warranty. He said not many people knew it. What does everyone think of that? Would it change your mind if you knew it before?
I find that really hard to believe, that it voids the warranty that is.
I find that really hard to believe, that it voids the warranty that is. I know for a fact that you can buy the Line-X at the same time as the truck at the dealer that I purchased it from. They offered it to me, along with the Touch of Class extended warranty on the paint and carpet, interiror exterior, etc....
Something doesnt sound right. What does everyone else think of this?
Line-Ex is not as thick as Rhino, We all know that. That's not what he asked though. My Rhino is 1/4" thick. And that's what they advertise. I think Line-Ex is more like 1/8" thick. I would ask them to repair that spot, then recoat the entire bed. Eevn if they put a thin coat on the entire bed it would be all even and look better than a patch job I think. Let us know if what they do for ya.
Who cares about the warranty on the bed paint? The beds are galvanized anyway and won't rust even the paint blows out of there. They can't kill the warranty on the rest of the paint unless you coat the whole truck with LineX/Rhino. My dealer gave me both flyer's and said it adds value..
Regarding the cut liner/thickness issue, I haven't been in touch with Line-X yet. Truck is still at the dealer getting a few minor warranty items taken care of. Hope to have it back tomorrow. I'm preparing for them to give me a hard time about the thickness issue. I did call them, and another Line-X outfit in town, and they both said 1/8" thickness in the bed.
As far as the warranty goes, the Ford dealer I spoke to said there would be no warranty issues if spray-in liner was installed.
