Pet Peeve
do you know any tailgate droppers. you know the ones that pull on the tailgate latch then let the tailgate fall without breaking its fall, it hits so hard you think the cables are going to break. that makes me cringe

I actually did that on my own truck, before I bought it... it had a sheet of steel diamond plate to protect the inside and top lip and it was HEAVY. I wasn't expecting the weight and it just kind of pushed me out of the way and I got out of the way. Needless to say I learned quickly to release the tailgate and let it down slowly.
Maybe a polite warning like 'uh, that's heavy be careful and let it down slow.' would have helped.

That reminds me of my friend's "diabolical" plan. He wants to make a name for himself by one day going out and lowering every tailgate that he sees. He wants to hide his identity so that the press will identify him only as "THE TAILGATER".
I thought it was a pretty funny idea.
