Just bought my first Ford Truck
Just purchased a 2001 F350 PSD with 96000 miles on the thing and I was just wondering a few things
1. Oil changes ... how often do you guys do them? What oil do you recommend?
2. Anything I should know in general about the truck??? Like general problems???
3. Mods...what do you guys recommend!!!!
Any help and or comment would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Welcome to FTE jdmef9 , let's see ... Oil changes , I change My trucks oil & filter every 5000 mi. ( some change more often ) , I use Rotella 15w40 . There are a few things that i guess would be "general problems" such as the cam position sensor , and I have read where guys have had problems with the wire harness in the valve covers . The first thing I did on my truck is replace the factory airbox and filter with a NAPA 6637 filter ( aka ) "kwikk filter" , my next mod will be 4" exhaust with stacks and a pyrometer . I know alot of guys install a chip or tuner , but I'm happy with the performance of my truck ( for now ) and don't have the money anyway !

1. Rotella 15w-40 every 3000-5000 miles - depending on how you use the truck. I change mine every 4000 miles just to be safe.
2. Unless you know the history of the truck - I'd suggest a good transmission fluid flush and change with those miles. Other than the cam position sensor - there's really not any problems with these trucks. Keep up with your routine maintanence and read up on past posts for ideas.
3. Intake, 4" turbo back exhaust, gauges, and then a chip or tuner - in that order. The tendency is to want to add your power first - but you really need to have the first 3 things done to prepare your truck for adding power with a chip or tuner - it's the safe way to hop up your PSD.
Welcome to FTE - hang around here and you will have just about all the info you will ever want to know about your new (to you) rig! ENJOY!!

I think the FTE favorite would be the Tymar intake. I found this site after I already had my intake, so I have an AFE stage 1, which I am perfectly happy with.
For the CPS - I'm not sure on the price - but I do know that you can get one directly from International for a lot less than through the Ford stealer er... I mean.. dealer.
