Hi all,
My son (who works in an auto body shop) just got an Excursion in that had been hit in the rear on the drivers side. He called to tell me that the back doors on Excursions were not made of steel but of fiberglass! I told him "Naw...can't be!" but sure enough, after getting off the phone with him I took a refrigerator magnet out to my Ex and tried the back door - it didn't stick!
Who else was aware that our back doors were fiberglass and not steel?
Guess I'll have to look into a rear bumper upgrade!
They wont rust like the rest of the truck here in MN. Try finding rear barn doors from a Suburban here in MN that are rust free on anything built in the 90's!!!
First off deadfish88, love your avatar of beaker...he was my favorite muppet (along with Kermit that is!)
And dougger222, we don't have a rust problem here in Fairbanks. Alaska is technically a desert in the fact that we don't get a lot of moisture or precipitation. And since we don't salt the roads here, cars last a long time (unless we roll them!)
Thanks heavnbound...Beaker rocks, if I do say so myself! I also like the 2 old guys that sit in the balcony, but couldn't find any good pics.
Good point about the rust, I hadn't thought about that...but I bet it helps, especially with all the water and dirt that ends up on top of the half barn doors...
