Kumho tires.

I ordered 2 Kumho tires from Tirerack.com. They had good reviews. Does anyone out there run Kumhos.

i have venture ATs on my truck... they are ok... but not great... tread is good but they are less than ideal in the rain. the kumho tires came when i got the truck. I eventually plan to upgrade to some BF Goodrich all terrains when these wear out.

Got 4 of them on my F-150, I like them. 15,000 miles on them and see no wear at all yet.

Thanks. The local tire places around here sell tires named "Wild Country" and "Wild Trac" made by a small tire company named Cordovan. These tires in 235/75/15 sell for about 80 -85 per tire mounted and balanced. They look like good tires, but I don't ever see them advertised.

Kumhos:

SmittyD: I have had 2 sets of Kumho 12.5 X 36 mud terrains on my F150 4X4
and was totally satisfied with the price and the performance.

I had been buying the same tire in BF Goodrich before my tire shop guy took me in his office and showed me photos of BF setting up their dies in a foreign land
to make Kumhos.

I bought these for less than half the price of the BF's and got around 30% better wear with on road and off road use .

I also put a set of 4 Kumho 15 X 235's on the wifes full size '84 Olds 98 Regency
LE and they were still good enough to sell 5 years later when the tranny in it died .

I presently have changed up to 16" wheels on the F150 and am running 33X10" Wild Countrys that are 6 years old and around 40,000 Mi. wiser and looking fine . These cost me $145.00 Can. balanced and installed so pretty reasonable compared to the big name brands that do not wear as well any way .

SmittyD,
I see alot of Wild Country tires here in the desert, have never run them but the guys that do seem to think they are OK. I run Mastercraft, or Courser tires and they work very good here in the desert, real good on dirts roads, rocks, and sand but in snow they are so-so and about the same in clay mud. I think Wild Country tires fall in with these tires.

Thanks Kermmydog,

Well, I bought 2 of the Wild Country tires for the back of my truck and I'm going to put the Kumhos on the front, since the Kumhos are more of a highway tread.

SmittyD : My 36X12.5 Kumho's were all agressive mud terrain on the truck but the standard all season's on the car were fine as well .

Thanks Jerry,
The 2 Kumhos that I ordered from Tirerack came in today. They are street tread tires for the front. I hope to get them put on Friday.

Happy Thanksgiving,

SmittyD

I have Ecsta STX's on my F150 and they're awesome! They handle great, even in the rain, and they hardly have any wear on them, I've got about 40k miles on mine.

I put a set (6) of 35" Kumho's on my '79 F-250. They're great so far. Good traction in the mud, rocks and snow. In my third year of using them and they're about half gone. Bit of noise on the road...ok, lots of noise but I don't mind. According to the tire guys here in Powell River, they've been seeing less cord separation on the Kumhos than on the BFG's. Can't say that it's for sure true 'cause I haven't seen it, but they swear it's true.

That is one thing that I dont like about my Kumho's(since mine's a street truck), is that they're loud going down the road. I just crank up the radio =) I will def. be getting another set whenever mine wear out.

The wandering is likely due to the different tires from front to back; I put mud/snow grip tires on the back of my truck and I could barely keep it on the road at 50mph, got the same tires put on the front the next day and problem went away.
