Ok here is my ? I have 94 ranger 4.0 4x4 it has a centerforce clutch which is not 2yrs old.not many miles either, since it was new i have had to let the pedal almost the whole way out to engage and now it is starting to get hard to shift like into reverse and 3rd. something just does not seem right any clues on where to start?
Look at the master cylinder for the clutch, if you did a clutch 2 years ago you should have replaced the slave. If changing the master doesn't work you may have go into the trans for the slave and verify condition of the clutch and press plate.
I had an old Bronco once that I put a new 3000 pound clutch in. Afterwards it was hard to shift and I had to adjust the throw on the clutch linkage. In a trafic jam you had to hold the pedal with both feet, but it would hook up those Super Swampers like, right now.
On a hydralic clutch system if you put in an after market clutch that has a different rating than the stock clutch, maybe they sell heavier master cylinders or slave cylinders to operate the new heavier clutch. I don't know, but it's something to ask about before you start spending money.
