5 Speed Swap?
Hello again everyone, My truck is a 1986 f-150 302 with the 4 speed granny trans. For a while I have been considering putting an new transmission in it. I really would like to put a 5 speed in it, will a T-5 from a 5.0 mustang bolt up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it will bolt up, but you will have to figure out the sifter though as it will be in a different location though. If you want a 5sp, the ZF's from the newer f-250-F-350's would be better as they have a lower first gear than the T-5s and they are stonger to.

The ZF's are a heavy duty tranny. They come in F250's thru F450's, and they are overdrives with a good-n-low first geat, and hydrolic clutches. I aquired one in a 89 F250 that I bought to part out. I am using the 351 for a Bronco project, and must sell the ZF and get a 4x4 version of the ZF. I wish I had a ZF in my 86 4x4!! The Bronco will be a 68 4x4, with EFI 351w and ZF 5spd.
