Inner Tie rod knuckle (Ballstud)

Is there a plug in the inner Tie rod knuckle? I noticed there is a place on the back side of it that is sticking out like a plug would be there, but I can't seem to get under it and pry it out. So I could install a Zerk fitting to grease. F-150 S'crew, 2001, 2WD, 4.6L

when i replaced mine, innner and outer, the factory ones had a cast lug type thing right in the center where a grease SHOULD be. i guess you could drill this cast in bump out to the right size to put a zerk in. just got to get the right drill size. if your truck has lots of miles on it and due to all the concern over ford's poor tied rod ends, i would just replace it. i did all 4, plus upper control arms, moog all the way!! now i can grease them all. except the lower ball joints. 63k, '01 sport.

Okay, thanks a lot. To drill and tap them they'd have to come off. If I did that they wouldn't worth putting back. Will keep needle greasing them.
