Can Heater Hoses.....???

Can heater hose length or positon design cause a significant amount of HEAT loss to the heater core? Do old hoses tend to lose heat more versus new or insulated/reinforced hoses? Just wondering if this may be the cause of low temp heat out of the heater core in my `89 E-150 302. Everything else (radiator, heater core, thermostat, blend door) has been checked out or replaced. Had an `84 E-150 302 that had great heat. Only difference I can see between them is that the `84 was caburated and the `89 is EFI.

I would think that you have a cold air intake
somewhere not closing
the type of or age of hose would have no effect
i have had both carb and efi and they all will put you out of the truck
also check the temp of the water entering the core

thanks mhg for your reply. Where should I look for a cold air intake not closing other than the blend door? Do you know where the cold air intake is located for the blower motor? Is it in the cowl or behind the fender? Also, which heater hose should I be checking to measure the temp of the water entering the heater core. I mean does it originate at the water pump or the manifold? I really don`t want to pull the heater core again unless I really have to. Does anyone have or know where I can get an exploded view of the entire heater box? My chilton`s or hayes books don`t give good detail.
