help me

i just took out a ford 302 and put new one in and now my trans wount shift out of first can anyone help me ?????

Did you hook up your vacuum line from the back of the tranny to the engine again? Thats all I can think of. Does it drive fine in 1st, and shift into 2nd manually, but then shift back down to 1st if you then put it in D manually after going to 2nd?
