Getting an extremely hard (BANG!) downshift (2nd to 1st, I think, maybe 3rd to 2nd?), but only when the a/c compressor is engaged, like when running the defrost. I understand it's not uncommon on the `99 (Ranger) 3.0's with 4 spd. (4x4, 4.10) I have about 106,000 on the vehicle now, been slowly getting worse (it seems) each winter and summer. How harmful is it? What's causing it, computer...sensor?
Thanks in advance - Glenn ...

there is a plug on the side or top of the tranny that controlls the pressure many times it gets corroded so badly that you get a weak signal and the tranny will shift hard so clean the connection and push/pull it back and forth a couple of times check youre fluid and drive the truck this is only a shot at it it could be the bands but give it a shot
