The Tailgate Must Die!!!
'82 Bronc.
Had her for 3 years now and it has been a constant battle with the tailgate window. Well this week the glass exploded.
So that's it i'm done with the stupid set-up once and for all.
My plan is to fab up a rear window similar to the ones for a pick-up canopy. I plan on using Lexan or a similar plastic for the window. I need hardware like the hidden hinge and a lock mechanism plus it all need to be water tight.
Anybody ever done this?
any ideas would help!

Im assuming that the torsion bar finally broke? If your just as pi**ed as I was (threw a $50 socket wrench in the bush, stomped and screamed like a child) just dont put another torsion bar in.

Well i'm frustrated, that's for sure.
No...it wasn't the Torsion bar. A long story but the glass just exploded.
My torsion bar is kinda loose but it works like a charm. At least my tailgate is lighter now. So i am gonna strip the works out (leave the torsion bar) and build a plastic window.
I curse the back window that Ford gave us.
