hi-boy

im in an argument with a friend of mine about what makes a hi-boy, i think its the 60's front and rear, he says it's just the 3/4ton 4x4 help me please

any F250 4x4 from 1967 - 1977 and a half.
although they use the same frame all the way back to 1959 I believe for the F250 4x4. if it came stock with a divorced transfer case its a highboy.

What makes a Ford Hi-boy is Ford put a Factory 4" Block between the rear axels and the leafs springs lifting it . So it was 4" over a stock ford 4x4. They add heavy duty shocks and i think added extra leaf's on the rear.

Ford didnt add anything, those blocks were standard on ALL 67-77 1/2 F250 4x4's. Ford didnt name the trucks Highboys either, that was a nickname given to them later on. You wont find a 67-77 F250 4x4 without that blocks unless someone removed them.

generally the "highboys" have a "divorced" transfer case, and a beam across the framehorns to hold the front of the leaf springs. 77.5 and later had "married" transmission and transfer case.
