Question Fuel consumption

Whats the best mods for good fuel mileage?
I have cut out the soup bowl and am going to run
the intake tube behind the rad bracket to get cold air.
I have no muffler and 2 1/4 downpipes, rest is 3 inch.
I havent turned up the fuel because of
damn fuel prices. 4.10 gears 5 speed

A light right foot with your setup should do you OK.
Keep the RPM's down to the 2000 neighborhood.
Take off from the stop light slowly.
Nice even throttle application.
Keep the air filter clean.
Keep the fuel filter clean.
Keep the tires aired up properly.
Change oil regularly.

In my experence the speed I drive has more to do with it than anything else. I suspect that the real issue is the RPMs the motor is turning rather than the speed. Thus I belive that anything to reduce RPM's (3.55 or gearvendors) would greatly help mileage. I also want to try a 3 inch downpipe to aid in breathing efficiency.

I have a 94 F250 4x4 super cab long bed with a IDI TD, E40D, 4.10 gears 235/85/16 tires at 80psi. The truck had 122k miles at the start of the trip and a bit over 123k at the end. I drove it back from FL and tested the mileage. Here is what I got...the truck was basically empty...one motorcycle in the bed and pulling a jet ski on a trailer.

Cruise Control set at 70mph (about 2250rpm) --> 13mpg

Cruise Control set at 60mph (about 2000rpm) --> 16.5mpg

Cruise Control set at 55mph (about 1800rpm) --> 21.3mpg
