ranger 02 stereo upgrade

i have a 02 ranger stock single cd stereo. the sound is not good at all im going to upgrade the speakers but ive also read the stock stereo will decrease the bass as the volume is increased which isnt good so i want to upgrade the stereo to. is there anyplace i can by a ford oem radio? either the mach or the same ford/pioneer radio in tremor. i dont want to get a after market radio because they are too tempting and to easy steal and that is a big problem where i live. ive only heard the mach radio one time and it sounded much better to me, is it really better?

I'm not sure I got the same kind of situation I have an 02 Ranger, and I have noticed that bass drops out at 3/4 the max volume, I think, or hope when i get my subs it will help.

Otherwise what my brother-in-law does is get a nice aftermarket deck, and always remember to take the face with you, or hide it in the cab.
