Help with hood

Hey guys got a problem with my 95. The hood release in the cab has been stiff since I bought it. Well I went to open it today... had to use a C-clamp to get enough leverage/force to pull it loose. Go around to the hood to find that it hadn't released. I believe the cable stretched out. Now hood won't open. How do I go about getting the hood to open? Is there someway to open it from the bottom or from the front through the grill?

I can't take it somewhere right now due to the fact the motor has no oil in it hence the reason I was opening the hood. I was attemtping to rig a fix for right now on the oil pan that would last to warmer weather. Any ideas or tips will definately be appreciated.

Try and get to the cable behind the pull tab, and see if you can get some vice grips on the metal cable and pull on that. i'm prety sure thats possible.

ry, not sure if you still have this problem, hope you dont. I had a cable break on me a while back on the end by the latch. If you look up between the condensor and the grill you can get at the latch release cable pull lever. It was a tough reach for me, im guessing if you dont have long arms you could get at it with a screwdriver but it is possible.

Hope it helps.

And after you get it open use wd40 to lube up the latch and cable to get stuff moving again.
Also change those valve cover gaskets to keep oil in her !
