Okay gurus, here's one for you.... 1997 F250HD PSD. My CEL is on so I took it over to Autozone and ran the OBDII scan on it. Came back with a P1395 error code. This is a California truck. I read on the Internet that this is a Glow Plug problem...?
Okay, more info. Truck runs good, except my gas mileage seems to be a little down. I replaced the fuel filter because that indicator was coming on intermittently. Now the Fuel Filter light will flicker on and off while driving, also intermittently. Doesn't happen every trip.
Where to start? Should I check the GPR first? Pull the VC's and check the harness inside? Do you think I have dirt or debris in the fuel filter bowl? Any thoughts on this one?
p01397-system voltage out of self test range during koer glow plug monitor self test. Could be that your batteries or alt arent keeping the voltage high enough during the test, try raising the idle during the test.
Well, I took a meter and started checking the GPR and the wiring harness. Everything checked out, so I figured that it had to be under the valve covers. I did this check with my father in law on Thanksgiving morning, so I didn't have time to pull the VC off. I buttoned the truck up and pulled the 20 amp fuse that controls the onboard computer to clear the error code. Waited 30 minutes and put the fuse back in.
No more Check Engine Light! Truck has been running perfectly since Thanksgiving! I think it may have been as simple as pulling and reconnecting the wiring harness connections, I have no idea! It just fixed the problem.
But, I'm no expert and I am hoping that I just didn't cover up a problem that's still there, but I don't think it is. Truck is running great!
This all started right after I replaced the fuel pump, so I think I may have bumped the wiring connections or something while doing the install.
I wish I could help you more on this, I think I just got lucky!
P.S., any gurus that think I'm crazy and may still have a problem, PLEASE TELL ME! I'm not an expert, just know enough to be dangerous and fix a problem once in a while.
