The race will be on a closed portion of an unfinished old highway. I have not really drag raced before but when he was shooting off his mouth saying " I will pay off the rest of your truck if you can even keep up with the CAMARO" that sort of irratated me. I thought that i could atleast keep near him but wasnt sure thanks guys. Oh and 1999_Ranger thanks for the spelling lesson, although I thought this was a truck forum and not a spelling bee forum.

I turned a pair of 14.33 s 1/4 mile runs with my '03 truck on the SCMT High Performance tune. Unless your truck is considerably faster than mine for some reason, you shouldn't be expecting to do much better than high 13s at the very best.
So if these cars can do mid 13s then you should expect to come out a bit behind but it should still be close enough to be exciting.
Leave the line in 4x4 mode. Brake stand the truck to between 1800 and 2200 RPM to build some boost before the launch. You should pull them at the line but get caught on the top end.
Being a Ford guy I can't spell most Chevy product names either

How about this idea??
Well,
To make it a bit more interesting since you are giving up about 2000 # +/-, how about him either giving you about a 1 second head start, pull a 1 ton trailer, or just wait to leave when you hit the 60 foot mark( this is probably the best option for you- the easiest sell- and I seriously doubt he would ever catch you). If it were me, I would push him for the 60' deal & let one of his friends just flag him off when you pass them standing on the line just 20 yards away. It's easy for them to challange as aerodynamic brick when they have a huge weight advantage, so try this to tilt the odds to quite a bit more even!!
Good luck, and I agree, BE SAFE.....then smoke him!!

You will have him until about 85-90 mph, where he will start pulling away thanks to drag.... flat out, you will not keep up with him, however my money says you will be right on his tail and at least give him a good scare. I can assure you that you won't walk away in shame
Even though running in 4x4 significantly reduces track times, I don't know if I would bother for a flat out, undistanced run. There is a noticeable difference in top end performance with/without the 4x4 (the drag of the front driveline is fairly significant) and you will be needing all the top end power you can get.
Gimme a shot at him afterwards

If he has Drag radials or what they call DRs on the back he will pull a 2.0 60ft time which will also put him into the 12s if he knows how to drive. If he has stock tires he is mid 13 seconds which is still faster but not by a huge amount. Either way he wins if he can drive worth a darn. If he has street stock tires and you lanch in 4x4 building boost he will be playing catchup the first 1/8th.

Sounds like fun!!
Define 'Keep up'... How many lenghts will he allow, and still pay? I'd run'm anyway, and if for some reason he chokes, your truck is free!! Be safe though..
Maybe you'll get to tow him home with your Phord
